In 1996 John traveled to Denmark, there to portray the poet laureate of Scotland, Robert Burns in the musical RED RED ROSE. The musical took its name from Burns's poem, 'A Red Red Rose'.
The show won third place in a competition for new musicals which attracted a large number of entries. Excerpts from the final three musicals were performed on the night of the awards.
