On December 19th, 2005, Elaine Paige presented a night off concert of hits from the best of West End and Broadway musicals as well some festive favourties at Symphony Hall, Birmingham. Elaine was joined by special guests John Barrowman and Danny Seward, with the BBC Concert Orchestra conducted by Martin Yates. The concert was recorded for broadcast on December 23, 2005 on BBC RADIO 2's FRIDAY NIGHT IS MUSIC NIGHT series.
John sang The Perfect Year with Elaine from Sunset Boulevard. As well as soloing on the title song, Sunset Boulevard. He then followed with Being Alive from Company and I Am What I Am from La Cage Aux Folles. Later, he rejoined Ms. Paige and Danny Seward for The Little Drummer Boy (the Bing Crosby/David Bowie version) and the trio concluded with a wonderful, rock and roll version of Santa Claus is Coming to Town.
